How to make flashcards from a PDF
Select a passage, choose Flashcard and type the question: the passage goes on the back, linked to where it came from. Cards need a free account, because they’re kept with your library.

Make a card in three steps
Before you start: make a free account and add your PDF to your library.
- Select a passage or a highlight; on a phone, press and hold a word, then drag.
- Choose Flashcard (Card on a phone). The card opens with the passage on its back.
- Type the question on the front and save it. The card is due for Review in the Cards panel.
Good to know
- More kinds of card: blanks, both ways round, pictures from the Snapshot tool, and math between dollar signs.
- Math from the page? Copy the formula as LaTeX first.
- Take it anywhere. From the ⋯ menu in the Cards panel, choose Export all cards to Anki…, print them, or export them as images or a web page.
- Stored with your library. Your PDF and its cards are kept on our servers, so they reach your other devices, within the free account’s limits on storage and usage.
- No account? You can still annotate the PDF on your device. Everything starts at pdfeditor.page, and there are 45 single-purpose tools at pdfeditor.page/tools.
