How to edit a PDF without uploading it, even offline

At pdfeditor.page, without an account, your PDF is opened, edited and saved by your own browser and never sent to our server. Don’t take our word for it: check.

Network off, a line retyped: in a lease’s section 1, Tenant and landlord, the Tenant line reads Maya Chen, outlined in blue, and the PDF then downloads with the change included.
Look at the Tenant line: retyped with the network off, then downloaded.

Prove it in five steps

Before you start: steps 1 and 4 need a computer; on a phone, skip them.

  1. Open the network panel. Right-click the page, choose Inspect and open the Network tab.
  2. Open a PDF and retype a line.
  3. Download it.
  4. Read the list. You’ll see the app fetch its own code and fonts, but no request the size of your file.
  5. Turn on airplane mode and repeat steps 2 and 3. Opening, retyping and downloading all still work.

Good to know

  • Downloaded once. Text recognition and translation fetch their files the first time you use them, then work offline.
  • Nothing is kept for you. Close the tab and your work is gone, so download it first. The privacy page lists everything that can leave your device.
  • How do others compare? Read is it safe to edit a PDF online. Beyond the editor, there are 45 single-purpose tools at pdfeditor.page/tools, and none of them uploads your file either.
