How to measure distances and areas on a PDF drawing
Open your plan in Measure a PDF drawing, set its scale once, then select the ends of what you want to measure. Distances, perimeters and areas read in the drawing’s own units and are saved in the PDF, which never leaves your device without an account.

Measure a drawing in five steps
- Open your PDF. Choose it in Measure a PDF drawing; the Distance tool is ready.
- Choose Set scale.
- Enter a known pair. In On the page and Is really, type a pair such as 20 mm and 1 m for 1:50, then choose Set the scale.
- Measure. With Distance, select both ends; with Perimeter or Area, select each corner, then Finish.
- Download the PDF. Each number is saved with its line or outline, drawn where you see it.
Good to know
- On a phone, a magnifier above your finger shows where a point lands, and any point can be dragged afterwards.
- No snapping to the drawing. Points snap to guides and to other measurements, not to the drawing’s own lines.
- No scale written on it? Choose Draw over a known length and trace a dimension the drawing gives.
- A new revision of the plan? Compare the two PDFs to see what moved. Everything starts at pdfeditor.page, and there are 45 single-purpose tools at pdfeditor.page/tools.
